How long do I need for my body to adjust to OMAD?

I have no problem with my digestive system. But my husband had gastritis and later on it developed into acid reflux because of missing his meals. I am afraid that if I practice the one meal a day diet, I might have problems with my digestive system. Anyway, my question is actually the period of adjustment to the omad diet. How long will it take for my body to get adjusted? Can you give me some pointers to strengthen my resolve? By the way, I am not obese but I admit that I am overweight by 30 or 40 pounds. Thanks in advance to those who will reply.

I found that it took me a couple of weeks. My biggest tip is to stay hydrated. I always had plenty of water, as well as green tea and black coffee on hand. When I was hydrating well I found the hunger pangs weren't as severe. You definitely end up finding a groove with it and it becomes much easier.

It's best that before starting OMAD, you should start training your body by slowly reducing the number of meals. If your having Breakfast. Lunch, Dinner and 2 snacks then that's a total of 5. Start by taking off a snack and after a week take another meal off and so forth until your left with a single meal a day.

It took me about 2 months of preparation before I went full OMAD because I didn't want to shock my body into this diet (as I've never had any kind of diet before) to avoid any potential health issues. Never really had any issues. It's best to take things slow than just going right into it.

I'm not certain if we all have the same adjustment period. It only took me a week to get used to OMAD. I suggest that you always make sure that you have enough water intake so that you won't feel dizzy. Hydration is very much important.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. I guess I have to make a plan before I embark so that there will be no turning back. To be honest, I have tried other diet schemes like the Southbeach diet but I did not last long maybe because I was not fully prepared. With the scheduling of my meals now, perhaps it's a good idea to lessen my meals slowly, say minus 1 meal per week so that my 5 meals a day will take a month before I can withstand the omad.

I get used to it after a month or more maybe. I almost forget really when. But automatically your body will coped with it. Just eat bread or crackers whenever you feel hunger for the first month or so. It's nice also to give your intestines some work also for you not to experience digestive abnormalities. Actually that advice is from my doctor.

You have to prepare yourself before you start this. And your body should adjust slowly. You can start by just making list of your meal scheme and reduce the food that you eat slowly.

I think different bodies have different ways of adjusting so it may be different for you, and also some might already be more used to skipping meals so it might be easier for some to jump into this diet. I myself was already used to Intermittent fasting before jumping into OMAD and pretty much was already fine with skipping meals both physically and mentally so it only took me a week to get adjusted. Also I did not have problems with acid reflux and pretty much just had to deal with the hunger aspect of the diet. You could take it slow or maybe just try it for two days straight of pure OMAD instead and see how you react to it.

I agree, it really depends on the individual. Just as long as you don't compromise your health and you don't have any illness, OMAD is just a matter of discipline and pursuance.

You're definitely right,it takes a while for the body to adjust. For me it took about the same 3 weeks to get it running smoothly but help me is hydration. I try to drink a lot of water and it fill me up then my eating time. But the body will definitely adjust.

I don't think that a time limit can be put on when you will get used to the OMAD diet. Our bodies are all different and how we eat is different. I also think it depends on what you do during the day. Are you running around ? Are you just sitting around in the office? Also I think that your state of mind matters alot. Do you really want to lose weight and be at your best? Be healthy and strong? This kind of people normally take a very short time to adjust to the OMAD way of life.
