Watching tv triggers my craving for food

The couch potato is the symbol of a person who is in front of the tv with a snack food on his hand. But for me, it is the opposite because I don’t snack when I watch tv in our bedroom. However, I am choosy with the tv programs now unlike when I was younger. Maybe my taste of shows have changed. I have noticed that when my eyes are glued on tv, I don’t feel any craving as if I am not hungry even if I skipped dinner. What’s the effect of watching tv on you, do you crave for snacks.

Television today advertises too many appetising dishes. There is no movie or soap opera that do not have appetising food. Your appetite will really be raised especially when on OMAD. Then should we stop watching TV.

I don't watch today any more these days maybe because of my busy day, it isn't easy to put food on the table so I try to just to entertain my self my laptop. But I never crave for anything when I'm seeing anything on my laptop all the same.

In the past I used to eat every time I was in the front of TV, I was eating sandwiches, potato chips, cracks, etc, now I am not eating at all, you are right watching TV makes me hungry, it took me a long time to give up eating while I am watching television.

I get cravings if I come across a food show but admittedly some other types of shows will remind me to want to snack like if I see a blockbuster type movie I will remember that it would be more fun to watch if I had some popcorn or chips to snack on. In the past I would not have given it a second thought and just have gotten up to make a snack and watch the movie but these days I will think about it really hard and see if I'm really that hungry or if it's worth breaking my fasting period and most of the time I just decide against it, but if I've already put in a lot of days being diligent with OMAD I might give myself a break here and there although honestly these days I rarely watch movies or food shows or just TV shows in general anymore anyway so this doesn't really happen all that much for me recently.

I was a snacker with TV too, but these days if I'm watching TV I prefer to prepare hot tea or coffee and sip that through my shows. Usually though I end up reading instead - I find that keeping my hands occupied by holding a book or my kindle seems to keep any feelings of hunger at bay more effectively than watching TV.

It’s going to depend on what I’m watching. I never really snacked while watching television so I can’t say that I’ve made that habitual connection in my brain. I mostly watch documentaries so I’m typically too engrossed with learning to think about food.

However, if I’m watching a cooking show or something, naturally that is bound to trigger some food cravings. Fun fact, simply the act of watching food being cooked and eaten can trigger an insulin response in your body, because your system assumes that you’ll soon be eating and digesting the food you see, even if it’s on television.

Pretty crazy stuff.

For me it really depends on the TV show. I crave for food when I saw a very appealing food in the TV show. When I'm watching a series of Korean Drama which a sixteen hour long I will watch it straight or watch the first 6 to 8 hours then continue it the next day. I will only stopped to go to the restroom. I do not eat at all. I will just drink water.

Laptop does not bring appetite. Infact it repels it. Use it more

Well, depending on what I'm actually watching and how long I have stuck my eyes on the television, it's very possible that I might start craving for snacks or even food. This is actually one of the reasons why I don't feel comfortable watching any movie that had lots of cooking scenes.

Not necessarily so for me. I have zero cravings when I am watchimg the TV and if the show or movie is great then it will have my full attention. I tend to prefer eating sometimes as I watch but its not an addiction.

hahaha. My friend if it is cooking show then there is no way you will not get any cravings. Wise advice, stay away from such shows if you are doing OMAD unless you want to suffer a lot.

No. I don't crave. I lust! LOL. It's awful. My husband and I are ridiculous. We love watching TV cooking shows, YouTube videos, and we love to watch food commercials. It doesn't really make us want to eat. We just salivate looking at the food and wishing we could eat it. Hey! It's just as good as satisfying your cravings. :D:D

I have come to understand that it's what you feed your subconscious mind that would most likely affect your life and it's exactly what happens when you are trying to stay away from food but still gets yourself all wrapped up with watching documentaries on food, what you can be rest assured of achieving with that is toiling yourself with hunger.

Watching tv does not increase my appetite at all. Watching cooking shows or food trips make me salivate but not necessarily get me to grab some food from the kitchen because they're more likely not the same with what I am watching. The only time I eat in front of the tv is if I'm so engrossed with the show or movie and I can't skip a scene. That will make me eat while watching.
