Tracking your macros is important in a ketogenic diet.

If a person is just having one meal a day, and eating whatever they choose for that meal, it is still a good plan to at least track your calories; but when you are also on a ketogenic diet, it is very important to track everything.
Most people only allow 20-30 grams of carbs (and those should be complex carbs) when they are trying to stay in ketosis, and it is also important to keep your fat and proteins in the right ratio as well.

I really like using a phone/ipad app to track my food intake, and the one that I use is called Carbmanager.
It has a great base of almost any foods, including name brand and restaurant foods, plus you can even make your own recipe and store it in the app. Carbmanager shows you the macros for each food, as well as fiber and nutrients, and it will sync with your Health app if you have one on your phone.
This really helps you to tell how much nutrients you are getting from your food, and what you need to supplement.

Here is the link to the Carbmanager website, and even if you do not have a smartphone, you can use the website with your computer or laptop. The basic program is free; but if you want all of the features, they also have a premium program which I think is well worth the price if you are serious about tracking your ketogenic diet.
