My OMAD Dairy Entries...Comments are Welcomed!

Yesterday: Day #33

I kept my promise to myself!

I did my OMAD within one hour!

And it felt great:D:)

Yesterday, I went out of town with some friends. We were served lunch. Unfortunately, I did not take my lunch. And the food was sooooooo small!!! Luckily, a friend had sandwiches and I was able to supplement them into my OMAD. I know from experience that if I had under-eaten I would have to eat later that day. So I found food. Surprisingly, after my OMAD, my other friends were hungry and they kept eating for the entire day! And yes! They kept offering me food (chocolate, chocolate...more chocolate!) and I said no. The treats I accepted, I quickly put it into my bag knowing that I could have it "tomorrow".

I was thinking that, under-eating can in fact cause my binges and eternal hunger. There is a sweet spot that I have to find that is both healthy and filling and lower calories BUT filling! I think this will take a bit of trial and error for me to find this sweet spot. But yesterday I did and it felt good.

I don't know about you, but I have never been the one to refuse free and tasty treato_O but because I was not hungry...saying no and sticking with the plan was easy.

Each day doing this plan is a learning experience. I initially thought that one month and I would be a OMAD PRO! But...NO!!! I still have challenges. Everyday I am getting better at OMADing but I have come to the realization that I will not be a OMAD PRO in one, two or even three months.

I have a lot of food issues to work through!

This realization has allowed me to relax and enjoy learning the OMAD lessons and also enjoy the process.

I am certain that after a year or two years of OMADing I will be a semi-pro and I look forward to this day!

But for today...I will go slow and learn the lessons and keep my promise to myself...OMAD and loving it!

Have a fabulous weekend OMADing and remember...we can always have the slice of cake or 'whatever food you grave" tomorrow!...and it will taste even better:D

Nuff love ;)

Sunny, I am very impressed with your willpower. You are doing the hardest thing, OMAD while still eating carbs, and you are sticking to it. That is seriously impressive. I spent two months OMAD while eating carb meals, finishing off the food I had in the freezer, and the hunger I had just before my meals was substantially more intense than the hunger I feel right now, and I am at hour 45 of an extended water fast.

What you are doing seems to be working for you. I salute you. By all means continue. However if you ever feel you can't keep it up, if the cravings become too intense, consider the other side of what this forum also talks about, doing OMAD while also eating Keto. Keto means essentially cutting out virtually all carbs, basically no sugar, no starch. What this does is to put your body metabolism into a state (takes a few days) where it adapts to instead of burning glucose for its energy needs, it adapts to using fat for its energy.

When you are fat adapted (called being in ketosis), you start to feel a 'lot' less hunger. OMAD becomes a lot easier. This is because you never get into a state where your body doesn't have fuel to use for energy. Your body is adapted to naturally using your own fat reserves for energy. Not only do you not feel hunger (or at least a lot less of it), but you are even more able to lose fat if your body automatically uses it for fuel.

The essence of a ketogenic diet is: No more than 20 grams of carbs, total, not net. Eat fatty sources of protein (IE: Chicken with the skin, pork chops with the fat, oily fish, eggs, cheese, butter, olive oil, etc.). Don't eat if you're not hungry. Stop eating when you are satiated. It's that simple.

Adding Keto to OMAD gives you the best of both worlds, and in my opinion is a lot easier than OMAD alone.

@Panpiper THANK YOU! You read my mind!

I really enjoyed reading your comments. You cleared up a few questions that I have had since researching Keto diet. The truth is I have been looking into the ketogenic diet for a while now. However, I have to do more research but in the meantime I am committed to cleaning up my diet and eating well within my one hour eating window.

Please feel free to send any information that you have as I am still searching for more information about keto. The forum on this site also has a lot of information. I am however, very cautions of doing keto (hence the need for additional research) as I have a particular health issue that may not be the best pair with Keto.

My focus now is on cleaning up my diet (this includes reducing my sugars and processed carbs) and doing more research on other diet options that can be paired with OMAD.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Again...thanks!!!!

Yesterday: Day#34

My weight this morning was: 129.4lbs.

So I am in the 120s. Haven't been in this range for over 4 months!!!!

Yesterday was an easy OMAD day. I ate within my one hour eating window. I was very busy with school and housework.

My thoughts:

The truth is that I stuffed myself to reach my heaviest weight of 135lbs.

Therefore as I aim to lose the excess weight, I need to be more mindful of what I eat and the amount that I eat while doing my one meal.

I have come to realize that this might be a little uncomfortable at first and I need to just stick with it . I know I am doing this for my best health and my best self. Plus when I reach my goal weight, I will have to now make a plan to maintain this weight for the rest of my life. So, this is only a part of a life-long journey. And I need to engage a eating regime that will enable me to maintain my weight lose and still live a happy life.

There are people on this earth...that maintain their ideal weight comes so natural. But I am not one of these "super-humans". I have to make a plan to be this kind of "super-human". No shame in that...I just got to do this new eating lifestyle often enough and then it will become a habit and I won't even have to think about it! Then I am one of these "superhumans!"o_O

I love fitness and exercise and I workout 4-5 times per week and I have been doing this for many years. It is the eating that I have always struggled with. BUT ...this is changing!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS TO OMAD and now mindful and deliberate eating for better health and well-being.

So, the focus for this week is to eat within my one hour. I need to take a break after I have had my main course and rest and evaluate if I NEED more food. I will also ensure that there is less process carbs! in my diet. No sugary drinks or teas! I will continue to exercise and getting my adequate sleep!

As...its the start of another new week. I will take it one day at a time and one OMAD meal at a time.

Have a successful OMAD week and remember that doing OMAD may be a bit uncomfortable but we can do this as it is best for our long term health and weight management!!!

WE GOT THIS!

Have a fabulous OMAD Today! .............. I will ;)

Nuff love!

I appear to have gotten most of my information from YouTube. I 'listen' to a lot of YouTube videos while doing other things that don't occupy too much of my mind. Here's a list of the ones I have found most useful.

Actual medical doctors:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLGu62anfPbFDkdQj0p-hQw
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIma2WOQs1Mz2AuOt6wRSUw
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpqCiTl-10WpSUuGSLgk4BA

Also do a search on YouTube for Peter Attia. He is an 'extremely' competent medical doctor who does not have a YouTube channel of his own but has been interviewed many times. He researches longevity and has very interesting things to say. Some of it can get very technical, but a lot of it is very accessible.

Not medical doctors but still very useful:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC70SrI3VkT1MXALRtf0pcHg
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrgWwBHZYlZ9oOs5EoI7CFA
Watch this first:

Virtually all of these people are also knowledgeable about time restricted eating and have nothing but good things to say about it. Most of them practice some form of intermittent fasting. I do not believe most of them are strictly OMAD. Peter Attia however frequently eats only one meal a day and otherwise stays within a 16/8 window. The reason I think is because much of the benefit of OMAD is gained already by being Keto, so the strict time window of one hour is less necessary. It is still useful however for other reasons (giving your digestive system the time off, autophagy, etc.).

By the way, as for health issues, the ketogenic diet is actually prescribed by doctors to treat several serious conditions. I have a friend with parkinson's disease who is following my own adventures with interest. She just happens to be a medical doctor and is seriously considering going keto to help with that. I would recommend doing a google search for your condition and also type into the search "ketogenic diet" and see what pops up. If nothing does, it probably won't hurt. I would wager though that in all likelihood something will and it will be positive.

@Panpiper Thank you for all these links! I too listen to youtube when I am working. I will definitely look into my medical condition and keto diet and see what pops up. With what I have read thus far I am sure it will be positive.

I have already began to listen to Peter Attia's interview. They are extremely interesting. I am in for a very interesting journey into learning more about keto!

Again...thank you very much...this will help me as I delve more into how keto diet can help me live longer and better and healthier life! ;)

Yesterday: Day #35

(sigh!)

(sigh!)

(sigh!)

So, I ate within my eating window and stopped....

...and then I ate within another eating window and stopped....

...so yesterday was a two time OMAD day:(

I weight myself this morning ....

...132.2lbs

I was up late thinking what my next strategy will be for me to reach my goal by December 31st. I know that I have to follow something that I can do for a long time. I love OMAD. I LOVE fasting. I have been doing daily fasting and extended fasting for nearly a year now. I have seen so many people do OMAD and loose tons of weight. On this very website there are many OMAD superstars.

But I have to find something that work for me and in do so, I have to do some experiment with my body.

I woke up this morning with a new plan!!!!!

I will work with my strengths and what I know about myself and what has worked in the past!

So, starting today I will be going on an extended water fast. This water fast will end when I am in my goal weight range or where I am comfortable with what I see in the mirror and/or the scale. Upon completing this extended water fast, I will return to OMAD to maintain the weight. During this period I will do more research on Keto and other eating lifestyles and see if I can create a lifestyle that suite my health needs and my lifestyle.

I will therefore be doing daily weigh-ins and chats about where I am and how I am feeling. And, any weird thoughts I may have. Also...this is a working plan...therefore changes may occur as we progress!!!!

There are tons of research that show that extended water fast heals the body. I love to idea of healing my body and getting to my ideal goal weight. The truth is it is not a 'lot' of weight but it is my weight to lose. I ate my way into my current weight range and I will have to fast my way out of it. I love the challenge and I want to try something else...a bit radical...but lets see if it works!

Maybe, this is how OMAD will work for me. Fasting into the weight range and then using OMAD and healthy eating to maintain the weight loss! A Sunny Shelley OMAD protocalo_O

(I am sure other people have done this...)

Well .... let's begin the experiment:)

Have a fabulous OMAD day or extended fast day!

Remember that you are an experiment of one...your way or my way may not work for another person...but if it works for you....KEEP DOING IT!!!!!

Nuff love ;)

Yesterday: Day #36

So I started my extended water fast at 6pm on Sunday evening and therefore yesterday at 6pm (Monday) I completed my first day of water fast.

My weight this morning was 126.4lbs. :D

The day was quiet uneventful. I had a lot of work to do. Usually during my 3 day extended fast I have a long list of things to accomplish and this keeps me distracted and busy from the need to eat. I have perfected this over the year of monthly of 3 days extended water fast and intermittent daily fasts.

Actually, I was surprised how good the day went.

I drank a lot of water.

I even got a light workout done in the morning. Again, I usually work out at least two days during my 3 day water fast and always workout when I am intermittent fasting. I work out about 4-5 times per week. If I am weak during this week, I will not workout.

Yesterday, I told my husband about my extended fasting plan and in his wisdom asked me the same question I asked myself - "Sunny Shelley, if you lost 5 pounds in one month don't you trust the process to lose another five pounds by the end of November and the final 5 pounds in December". My immediate response was very defensive. I told him that I trusted the system and that I believed that OMAD is a way of life for me. BUT, I wanted to jump start this weight-loss and that I ate my way to this weight, I know I can fast my way out of my weight gain. And I need to prepare to maintain this weight loss so I need time in December to manage my weight as I have great fitness plans for 2019! ....and that was my argument. :rolleyes:o_O:oops::rolleyes:

I went to bed with his question still on my mind ...and yes I woke up with the perfect answer!

About two years ago, I had put as one of life goals to water fast 7 days annually. I had since forgotten about this as I thought it would be simply impossible. I had even written it down in my Life Goals Book. I had changed that book and revised my goals and somehow had left off my lofty annual 7 day fasting goal. I had read about the benefits of 7 day extended fasts and always wanted to do them.

This morning, I wrote this goal of annual 7 day water fast in my new goal book - under the title "Fasting Focus Lifestyle". I also included under this heading my monthly 3 day fast.

Yesterday I was not sure when I would have ended this fast but I now know. I also have a purpose of this fast - Annual 7 Day Water Fast!

This will be my first annual 7 day water fast. I will benefit from all the advantages of doing an extended fast and this includes weight/fat loss.

I am taking the time also to research the best ways to break this extended fast as well as how to maintain the weight loss.

This is my one woman experiment. This is all new to me but I am confident in the fasting lifestyle and I am committed to continuously improve my health with all the tools and information that I have available to me. This may not work for everyone...I am going to make this one woman experiment work for me by adjusting my methods as I move towards my goals... nothing tried nothing done! And what do I have to lose?...some weighto_O...;)

Have yourself a fabulous OMAD and extended fast day!

We got this;)

Fasting is an extremely healthy thing to do, utterly regardless of weight loss. People who have no weight to lose are still well advised to fast. People who are underweight should fast. The health benefits are enormous. Weight loss should not be the motivation for fasting, living twenty years longer in fabulous health should be.

@Panpiper ....Your comments are always so perfect!!!!!!!!! I don't know how you do it!!!!! Exactly what I wanted and needed to hear.

Without boring you with my own medical history...I can say that because of fasting I am still ALIVE!!!! This weight gain is detrimental to my health and my doctors are worried and have spoken to me about my weight gain. Fasting saved my life over a year ago and I know it is saving me as I type.

I am excited about living twenty year longer but just living today is a blessing for me. Fasting has allowed me to be here, right now. I overate an placed my health in a worrisome situation and fasting is again...saving my life.

@Panpiper ...your comments really allowed me to reflect and serves as motivation for me to complete this fast.

I am eternally grateful to you.

PLEASE...feel free to comment and to send all and any information my way!

Nuff love to you and have a fabulous OMAD Keto day!!!! :)

Yesterday: Day #37

Went on the scale this morning and it said 125.0lbs :D

Yesterday was not an easy day but a do-able day. At certain points in the day I felt hungry and questioned myself as to why I am doing this fasto_O..but I knew better and just let the 'bad' feelings pass. Sunday/Monday seems like an eternity away but I need to just focus on today...this minute...this second and move forward with the commitment.

I need to succeed.;):)

Yesterday was an emotional day for me and I was sad and needed cheering up. Usually I would treat myself to something 'nice' but the only thing on the menu was water:eek:...So I had to look into my emotions and feel them and love them and move forward even though it hurt....that was new! o_O

Today is another busy day and there is a lot on my to-do list.

But the first thing I need to do is to be grateful for my many blessings! Living is fabulous and I love my human experience!!!

I will take this thought with me today and know that this fasting is just another human experience and a tool to heal my body!

Wishing you a gratitude-filled day and a fabulous OMAD/Extended fast day;)

Nuff love:);)

Yesterday: Day#38

I went on the scale this morning and it read 122.6lbs

Yesterday was not easy. I was very moody and I hated the fact that I was fasting:mad:... I wanted to eat during my regular eating window but when the window passed I was less tempted to eat.

So, I am pretending that this is a regular OMAD day and just skipping that window...Lets see how this works today!

I also did not work out yesterday and will not workout until after my fast. I think this fast is like a workout of the mind and bodyo_O

Have a test today so going to complete studing before heading to school.

Have a great day .... and remember we eat soooooooooooooooon;)

Enjoy your OMAD or extended fast!!! We got this;):)

Yesterday: Day #40

This morning the scale was 120.4lbs

Yesterday was a busy day but I had very low energy. I had great energy in the morning but it went down tremendously by mid-day. I felt much better by evening. o_O

This morning is a slow morning and my husband is convinced I should end the fast.

But I want to at least do the full water fast for no less than five days.

I am in my fifth day and this is Friday...the weekend is coming up and I can do my gentle and slowly re-feeding and continue with OMAD....Slowly breaking the extended fast with simple and easy OMAD...possible do this for Saturday OMAD and Sunday OMAD...

Well...that is the strategy I have...I am also researching low card diets and eating a balance meal as OMAD.

I think I am better prepared for OMAD lifestyle after this extended fast. I have to continue to work hard!!!!!

Sunny Shelley...the one woman experiment...is moving forward to learning about her body and health and strength;)

To be honest, this is the weight I was like a year ago. I feel so much happier at this weight. My cloths fit better and I am more confident. Again, I am a very small frame person and I am short...5ft 3". And my heaviest weight was 135lbs.

I would not recommend what I am doing for anyone else.

BUT.... what I would recommend is that you listen to your intuition and understand that what works for another person may not work for you and you have to create a eating/fitness lifestyle that suits your goals and dreams. There is an abundance of information on the internet. Do your research and do what you think is best for you. And most importantly...be flexible. You can change in the middle of your plans. You can decided to do it radically or traditionally. Once you are happy and you are seeing progress ....POWER to you!!!!

I was reluctant to change my plans and continue writing this blog because I was afraid to be judged. EVEN THOUGH I GET FEW COMMENTS!

I still was fearful. Possible of myself judging Sunny Shelley

But I realize quickly that this is my life and I am one experiment and I have to work my plan until my plan is working for me and more importantly...I am happy with the process and the results!!!!

SO...do you Boo Boo and have a fabulous day OMADing and/or Extended Fasting;)

Again, I am seriously impressed by your willpower. Myself, I didn't dare do a full two day water fast until I was fully ketogenic, because I knew that being ketogenic would majorly curb the hunger. You dived straight into a lengthy one while still eating carbs! Ghads!

First of all, I think that it is necessary for you to keep educating those people that don't really understand what Omad is all about on how they are going to lose weight by doing so. If possible, read out the articles that the owner of this website has written. I don't allow what others tell me to deter me from doing Omad.

I also enjoy reading your entries each day, @Sunny Shelley , but sometimes, there is not anything that I think that I can comment about what you have shared.
Like everyone else here, I am majorly IMPRESSED with how well you are doing with the OMAD eating plan, and what you are telling us is so inspirational ! !
I have never done a five day water fast, and I am not even sure if I can do that, but it is working for you, so that makes it a good thing. this is one of the things about OMAD, is that not only are there any special foods we can or can’t eat, but we can also adjust our fasting times to suit our lifestyle and our goals.

@Panpiper ....I too don't know where I got the strength from.:eek:o_O... But I agree with you...being in ketogenic state would have HELP BIGLY!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the comment!!!!

@Henrywrites Thank you for your comment.

I am a newbie to OMAD. I am still learning and reading. And you are right...this website has TONSSSS of IMPORTANT information. I am still in the process of reading them ALL. And I am still learning and be doing I am learning how to make this work for me.

...to tell the truth. I am just understanding what this site says about the one plate regime. :rolleyes:o_O

This is a forever journey for me and I am learning every single day.

Please feel free to share with me any information or OMAD tips/tricks you use on your journey!!!!;)

Yesterday: Day #41

Went on the scale this morning and it read 119.2lbs.

Yesterday was ROUGH!!! :(o_O:(

I was in class and I was literally sad:(

On my extended fast days I only have water. HOWEVER!!! This was the first time doing a 5-7 day fast.

When I had my first break and my friends were going for coffee...I had to have some.

So I had coffee with a splash of soy milk and zero calorie sugar packets (not great choices) BUT....OMG!!! Thank the goodness!!!!...The coffee made my day in every sense of the word!!!! It was a large coffee and that made me go through the rest of the day.

Later in the evening, my husband and I went to the supermarket and as I was passing the olive section, :(:confused:o_O ...I took one and ate it....My husband was so shocked...I would never 'steal' anything...worse an olive:oops:o_O...but I think I needed the salt....so I ate it and felt fabulous...;)

Today, I will be breaking my fast and going back to OMAD. As I indicated earlier. I was resistant to the OMAD...one plate regime. BUT ...now I realize that I need it!!!!...this a journey and I am changing and growing;)

@Jimmy Swartz ... You were right!!!!!!

I resisted BUT....it is the best way.....!!!!!

...I am constantly learning and this is the journey of a lifetime!!!!

Wishing you a great OMAD or Extended Fast;):D

WE GOT THIS!!!!!

Nuff love;)
