Do's and Dont's of Eating one Meal a Day

That's why during my rest days, I will surely sleep as long as I can, but I notice that, I'm much more looks haggard and exhausted if I sleep more than 8 hours, I feel that, I did something heavy and looks like really tired.

You will just have to get used to sleeping longer hours. For the fact that you have trained yourself to sleep for few hours have made it used to sleeping for short periods of time, it's the reason why when you try sleeping for far too long, you wake up feeling exhausted.

If you can't do OMAD, you may want to prepare one meal per day but instead of eating it once a day try to divide one meal into two or three as if its like your eating your meals three times a day but it will be the same equivalent to one day meal and just drink a lots of water.

Yeah, but the problem is, I really don't have time to sleep eight hours or even five or 6, I think you're right. my body right now is not comfortable to that longer hours of sleep but I really need to sustain that. Maybe I'm sleeping but not resting. anyway, thanks for the advice.

You are very welcome my friend. Maybe the problem is that you don't even have the free hours to sleep for longer periods of time and as such you can't train your body to get used to sleeping longer hours. But anytime that you can find a way to sleep for a while, please do so because it's going to be beneficial for you.

You have a very good point @nekonieden. It's definitely going to be very easy on the body when you get to eat small quantity of meals when you feel hungry for being on a diet. Your idea of dividing one meal into 3 portions is a good idea.

You're right. My sleeping hours is looks like installment for me, I'm able to sleep for 30 to 45 mins while inside the bus going to work and going back home in my apartment and 30 mins during my 1 hr break, and my body is really familiar to that routine.

Thank you. Yeah it's more easier that way. I just remember what the instructor said that you don't have to skip meals. Instead of skipping your meals, just eat small amount of food. The more you make yourself hungry the more tendency you will crave and eat more. I find it more effective than the OMAD tho but it is still equivalent to one meal.

Exactly. Even though the meal is split up into different three portion, it still is one meal taken at different intervals. I think that it will suit the body better with eating the small portions at different times instead of eating one meal and staying hungry for too long.

All the suggestions I've read are good and I believe someone can achieve a stress-free fast by implementing some of them. My additional suggestion would be to 'keep busy' and don't let your mind have the time to think about food, just like @Trish23 has explained. The reason as to why @Martinsx can feel hungry is because his brain isn't preoccupied. The same goes for pain.

When one works, time fly's, and it simplifies your fast.

You have a very good point about getting one's brain and mind to think in such a way that it's going to be preoccupied with other things instead to food.

Once one's mind is preoccupied with the thoughts of food, such person is definitely going to have the urge to eat always.

Avoid conversations that will lead you to eat more food. You should also avoid too many activities that will inevitably get you hungry. Also, ensure that you keep hydrated.

In order for your OMAD diet to be successful, drink lots of water whenever you feel that you are hungry. For me I drink lemon water with a little bit of honey. It is effective for me to get over my cravings ang hunger. Also, I avoid watching cooking show, and food review. I also schedule my only meal before my peak hours in work. Then whenever I have nothing to do I stay away from food to avoid cravings

To achieve OMAD, you should drink plenty of water and keep yourself busy. Keeping yourself busy helps your mind not to focus on hunger but on other things. Trick your own mind and start motivating yourself
Very much agree. Making yourself busy and away from any foods are just one of the ways to avoid temptations. But, if you are that motivated and determined to lose weight? There is no food that can tempt you to break your diet. Food can't beat you :D
But, I guess it's not that bad to have a cheat day every week. It can be your motivation to finish your OMAD diet for the whole 6days.

Yes you are right!. If you are determine to lose weight then you can control your mind not to eat food. Sometimes if you can really feel your hungriness then you may want to eat just small amount of food with low calorie like oats or egg or veggies. As long as it is healthy then you can eat food , just make sure to not forget the exercise as this is one of ways to lose weight faster with balance diet and proper nutritious food.

The good thing about this is it's really that simple without the calorie counting and you don't deprive yourself too much as you are allowed to eat food you like to eat once in a while. You just need to manage it. I'm already doing OMAD even before I'm not familiar with it but I have no guide really I just chose to eat once a day but not on a daily basis. It's something that I can manage I think because I can skip breakfast and dinner. This time though I will make my meal healthier.

Yes! and avoid browsing some pictures on internet as this will lead you to cravings especially high contained calories like sweets, chocolates, ice creams and so on. You have a point, but you can still join some activities, just drink a lot of water to suppress your hunger and to hydrate you also. You can also drink energy drinks but its more recommended to just drink water since it doesn't have calories.

How to avoid food temptation?

Actually for me, its really hard to avoid temptation. What I just do, I just keep myself busy and as much as I can I try to avoid seeing those prepare foods on the table and make sure that I have some water and a low calorie biscuit beside me just to suppress my hunger and cravings. As much as I can I also avoid looking at the pictures at the internet. When I am out side, I'll just bring a small amount of money so that whenever I get tempted, I don't have guts to buy that food since I can't afford it.

How to avoid food temptation?

To avoid food temptation you must know the reason why you are doing OMAD diet. Drinking more water would help you to feel full and for that you would no longer have a cravings for food. According to the study eating more foods rich in protein would stay you full for long time. You should also have a meal plans. Stress also make us tempted to eat so let us avoid it. Make yourself free will stay you away from food temptation as well.

Don't watch the food channels, chew sugarless gum and drink lots of water.
I agree with you that you should not watch food videos that could tempt you to eat food, especially foods with too much sugar. It can make you feel hungry, and ruin your diet. You should focus on your diet by watching videos that could inspire you to achieve more of your diet.

While eating One meal a day, you must be sure to do it right and you must be fit for it. Do not undertake such If you have an underlying health condition like ulcer.
If you must eat one meal a day, you must make sure that you are having a very balanced diet. A proportion that gives you the most needed calories at once. You can see a nunutritionist who would give you a good combination plan of different nutrients. Make healthy choices.

Water is your friend, you would need to stay hydrated all day. Stay away from sugary drinks. They can only obstruct digestion and increase your chance of developing health conditions. You can switch snacks with fruits at different hours of the day since you are bound to feel hungry.

Add a healthy dose of exercise too and get yourself busy and occupied. It distracts you from the food you see around you.
