Choosing a healthy oil for your diet.

It is said that extra virgin oil is the healthiest oil. Lots of people have numerous good things to say about it and research proves that the benefits spoken about aren't made-up. It is possible however for someone to buy olive oil which is marketed as "extra virgin" when in fact it isn't (all for the profits). If you do, you'd be missing out on the potential benefits because what you'd have got is adulterated or counterfeit olive oil.

I use corn oil for all my cooking. I've seen some ads which claim corn oil is healthier than olive oil. Is this true?

As far as I know, most of the corn oil is processed with very high heat, as well as bleaching and chemicals. Corn is not naturally oily, so they have to do a lot of processing to get the oil from corn.
I use extra virgin olive oil either as a salad dressing, or for sautéing food at low temps, but not for high heat cooking. For anything that needs really hot oil, I use coconut oil, because it can be cold processed and it is still able to take the high heat from cooking.
Most of the time, I try to avoid frying foods, and to only use oils in a more natural form.

Yes, that is very true many manufacturers do market normal olive oil like extra virgin olive oil to earn profits and increase the sale of there products. However Olive oil is certainly very healthy when included in your food The extra virgin Olive oil especially contains a lot of antioxidants and is said to be effective in various diseases like Alziemers. However Olive oil is best for low heat preparations. For the purpose of frying etc a combination of other oils like peanut or sunflower oil can be used. I think a combination of oils for different methods of cooking can be used to get the maximum benefits.

Actually it's not the false marketing of olive oil you should be concerned about, it's potentially compromised olive oil that it the real concern. So many people are now aware of olive oil and love it that it's become a lucrative business to water down olive oil or just sell a fake product as most people cannot tell the difference. This potentially compromises not just your diet, but your overall health if you're using bad products. It's really important to research them before you buy a brand to know if it's production line takes it through any concerning countries or territiories where organized crime may tamper with the product. Stay vigilant and remember that poor olive oil can comprimse OMAD if it concerns vegetable oil or other potentitally unknown (to us, the comsumer) oils!

I agree. About a decade ago the butters and the lards were considered unhealthy. With low carb diets like Atkins and Keto fats like coconut oils, lard and butter are recommended. I actually not an olive oil fan. I do low carb combined with keto and I choose to use butter, coconut oil and lard. My best oil is lard because I make it myself and becomes cheaper this way, I also like how it makes food taste. I use coconut oil but I really can't stand the taste so I use it when I'm making dishes that require coconut oil. For example I use it for bulletproof coffee.

I remember back when I was a little kid, the oil my mom used to cook our food is vegetable oil. That changed when I was in sophomore high, I actually liked olives and my friend introduced me to this and they have been using olive oil to almost all the food they make. That's the time I suggested it to my mom that we should use it as well even if its more pricey than the vegetable oil we used before, I can say that it's worth it. There's really a lot of health benefits that we could get from it and it could be used in many ways like baking, frying or as a salad dressing.

We usually use vegetable oil when cooking and olive oil for breads and pastries. My parents were so health conscious and they choose their ingredients very careful as they have history of heart ailments. They used to buy canola oil but thanks to this discussion, I have been able to convince them that canola oil might bring danger to our health.
