nzmegs - hoping this one works

I have been really hungry today and for the first time, I saw an increase on the scales this morning. I think I overdid the carbs yesterday, but my calories were fine. I know I shouldn't weigh daily - but it does motivate me. So far this week (since saturday, which is the official weigh in) I...

nzmegs - hoping this one works

It is interesting what you say about autophagy. I lost around 50 pounds a few years ago, quite quickly, and found that I had some loose skin around my tummy and thighs. Not really bad - but enough to notice. I thought it was just the long term price of putting on weight and then losing it...

nzmegs - hoping this one works

Two weeks - and still going strong. I've not given in at all, although on a couple of days my eating window has stretched to around 2 hours - just because of circumstances. I've been making good choices, mostly. But I have also been allowing myself to have the foods I really want. I am...

Some Days I Wake Up Starving

When I am hungry I look at it as a good thing. My body is depleted of energy sources and will be using my body fat instead. that gives it a positive spin and can help you to avoid making some toast!

Calories and eating one meal a day - intake?

I just go by what I feel. On some days it could be as low as 600 Cal's and on others as high as 1800. I limit my eating to one hour and see how much I feel like eating in that one hour. I thinking mixing it up a little keeps your body guessing and is more akin to the Jason Fung style of fasting.

nzmegs - hoping this one works

Back again - I have actually stuck to OMAD completely and it's all going well. Even on the weekend when I went out for dinner with a friend. I just kept to eating within the 1-2 hour window, didn't worry too much about the calories and had fun. I did have a drink or two and felt really rotten on...

nzmegs - hoping this one works

Got through the day, no problem. Three coffees, each with a little milk. (this doesn't seem to affect me). I was really very hungry around 2 hours before eating time. But I still managed it quite easily. In fact, I recognised I could have had my meal early if I wanted, so I started cooking and...

nzmegs - hoping this one works

Last nights meal was good. I ate the cake - but hey... I made a conscious choice to eat more slowly and allow the meal to take around 45 minutes. That helped with being able to eat it all and my digestion. I haven't had anything at all this morning - not even water. I just got stuck in with...

Electrolytes - any sugar and calorie free ones?

I'm not good at taking vitamins and minerals and I am also aware that I tend to suffer with cramps, light headedness, headaches and sometimes nausea when dieting. So, does anyone know of an electrolytes drink that is able to be had on OMAD? I don't want to risk the effectiveness of the fast, but...

nzmegs - hoping this one works

you know what? I don't need cake. I really don't. I can make better choices and still enjoy my food.

nzmegs - hoping this one works

I agree about calories. To be honest I just count them because I am curious to see how much I'm eating in one sitting and as I am going low carb, I am also counting carbs. I was also worried I might end up not eating enough. If you don't feel comfortable with calorie counting definitely don't do...

    nzmegs - sayin' hi

I was born in NZ but have lived in the UK for 20 years. Meg is just fine :) The font on my laptop cuts off your full name so you look like "happyflowerlad" . it took me a while to work out you were a woman! I thought that was a lovely feminine name choice for a man.

What is your Staple Omad Food?

I agree with you @Happyflowerlady however there is some evidence that people from certain (usually Asian) backgrounds are less susceptible to the insulin and blood sugar spikes that come from rice. because they have adapted to it over the generations. This is thought to be the reason why the...

    "1 Drink" question

I'm missing my morning coffee with milk - so I have just a dash of milk and it is fine. There are vanilla flavoured syrups that are sugar free, but even these are not recommended. I would save your favourite drink for during your window and enjoy it.

    nzmegs - sayin' hi

I've already dived into a few threads, but here I am introducing myself... I have a progress thread up and running already too. it is important to me to document my diet journey as much as I can. it helps me stay true to the goals I set. I need to lose around 50 pounds - but I will be happy...

nzmegs - hoping this one works

first meal... well. I added up the calories of the main meal and the milk and it is only around 1000 calories. I still have the Greek yogurt and berries to go, but I am absolutely stuffed. I don't think I can eat it. I still have 40 mins until the end of the hour, so Ill see how I go. Should I...

nzmegs - hoping this one works

hello @Happyflowerlady thank you for the welcome. I'm a bit of a nutrition obsessive - I know way too much about all this stuff! But always happy to learn more (and be put right). How long have you been eating this way - is it working for you? I try to stick to a low carb eating plan most of...

Eating the same amount of food – once versus several times

As some have mentioned, the OMAD diet is about limiting the number of insulin spikes you have in one day. When you limit insulin, your body can burn fat. Give your body all the chances it can get to do this and you will lose weight faster. You are also protecting yourself from type 2 diabetes...

Should You Tell Others About The Omad Diet?

I've been doing intermittent fasting for a few days and my daughter has kept me on the straight and narrow - she will check the time and warn me if it isn't my eating time yet. I've now explained the one meal a day approach and she will continue to monitor me. It's good to have the extra...
