Build Muscle Faster?

I stumbled into this earlier and I need to know what you think about this. According to one blogger, anyone who is interested in gaining muscle fast should train after fasting for a day. Which technically implies this person should eat only one meal a day. According to this blogger, growth hormone is at it's highest in a person's body when they are in a fasted state.

You train and exercise at this time (after the 24 hour fast) for as long as you as you want. After it, you have your high protein meal. Repeat this several times and you'll see a huge difference.

Anyone here tried this?

This is exactly right, and what I have been reading as well. Our body cannot be digesting food and rebuilding itself at the same time, so when we eat later in the day, then we are still digesting food during the night when we should be rebuilding muscle, and putting out growth hormones.
By eating earlier and then fasting, all of your food intake should be pretty much digested when you go to sleep, and then your body can do what it needs to rebuild itself.
Since you are in a fasted state overnight, you are burning body fat and not sugar as fuel, and will be losing fat overnight when you are sleeping. I try to exercise in the morning when I am still burning body fat, because then the exercise is burning fuel even faster.
There is a book called “The Obesity Code” that does a great job of explaining this, as well as some videos on youtube.

I do my training or exercises in the morning and I have been feeling pretty comfortable with it and I take my meal.between 2-4 and I have been building my stamina over time. I like this early morning exercises because it helps to keep my heart rate which helps me burn calories all day.

I have tried doing exercise with OMAD before and I can say it's not easy. I did exercise in the morning and have my meal at lunch. After a week, I noticed how my muscles got developed in my whole body, so I gues it's true but I got so weak and dizzy all week. So I decided to stop doing exercise for a while. After then, I do walk as my exercise.

This is new to me and worthy of trying out. Actually I need to build muscle and I need to train. Now after the 24 hour fast is a bit confusing. The fast takes 23 hours. After the 23 hours is my eating window. Can you explain to me properly when to exercise.

Technically if you've fasted for 23 hours, your body would already be in a fasted state which would mean that you can exercise just before your eating window (after the 22 hour mark).

For the athletes I suppose it is somewhat different. They could train for some time, fasting 24 hours while on training and they'd go back to having their three meals a day afterwards.

Now I do understand. I can fast 22 hours. Do exercise in the 23rd hour and feed in the 24th. I think that is fair enough.

I have been doing this without knowing. I think that doing Omad and combining it with my home workouts have really helped me. Frankly speaking, it is all about giving the necessary commitments as that is the way that I got to remain better on the goal of building muscles while I am on fasting.

My workout schedule isn't focused on gaining muscle. I simply look exercising to be healthy and fit but not to add extra obvious muscles. This is actually why I had to stop weight lifting completely.

I actually heard about this in a recent documentary I watched on fasting and ketosis. There was actually a study done in 1982 where a patient decided to undergo a 40-day fast for religious purposes. The patient actually underwent a 1,250% increase in HGH (human growth hormone). That’s insane!

Now 40-day fasts are obviously incredibly unrealistic for the average person, but you can definitely get benefits just from fasting a day or two. Studies show that fasting for just two days results in a five-fold increase in HGH. Protein and eating a well-balanced diet are obviously incredibly important, but fasting can be just as beneficial when done correctly.

There are some religious fanatics who would take everything that they do to the extreme only to prove a point and some of them, the unfortunate ones ends up suffering for it. There was a church pastor who decided to go on a long 30 days dry fasting like Jesus Christ did and he ended up being hospitalized after the 15th day without taking water. Fasting is good only when it's done right.

While I hardly consider myself a religious person, I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of a 40-day “water only” fast for the purpose of spiritual growth. I recall seeing a study where a 27-year-old, 456-pound man fasted for 382 days as a means of weight loss, and he managed to lose all the weight while still staying healthy. Sure, he did it under the supervision of a doctor, but it goes to show that longer fasts can be done without doing harm to the body.

Dry fasts, on the other hand, are totally ludicrous in my opinion. I can understand not eating, but not drinking water is just asking for a trip to the hospital—or even worse, the cemetery.

The blogget you mention is absolutely right. It's very effective when you do exercise while fasting. Just that don't train more that your capacity at the time. Because our energy level lowers down when we don't eat 3 times a day. I suggest that when you are just starting. Do light exercises first until your body cope with the changes. Diet with exercise is key for faster weight loss.

When you are eating a low-carb or keto diet plan, then your body is burning your body fat, and not sugar from carbs that you have eaten; so you do not really lose any energy because you have a steady supply of fuel to burn.
Even a person who has no weight to lose can fast and burn fat for many days with no problems . It is when you are eating a high-carb diet that you will lose energy, because your body only holds a minute amount of blood sugar, compared to how much body fat we have stored up to burn.
If you think if it as fuel on a fire, it is a similar thing. If you are putting twigs on the fire, they will burn up right away, and you have to keep adding more fuel all of the time.
However, when you put a log on the fire, that log can burn overnight, and puts out more heat than the twigs did, as well.

Personally, I have only tried dried fasting only once in my life for religious reasons and it was a horrible experience for me which I vowed never to try ever again. This was even before I started OMAD. It's totally not safe in my opinion to go on dry fasting.

Personally I have no trouble growing muscle, breaking PR's, and training high intensity on keto, so I'd say it's pretty accurate.
In fact it makes more sense that you would be able to train at high intensity longer on keto because as you train your body continues to be able to replenish glycogen stores from glycerol, a byproduct of fat burning that is turned into glucose through gluconeogenesis.

When I did OMAD I rather lost weight, and as far as I know, you're unable to grow muscles during OMAD due to being on a low calorie diet, am I wrong?

Omad is not necessarily a low calorie diet, it simply means that you only eat one meal a day, and some people pack a lot of calories into that one meal, depending on what they eat for the meal.
There is no reason that you can’t gain muscle when only having one meal, because your body has a constant source of energy by burning the fat in your body (or your food), and you can exercise or work out just the same as if you were eating several meals each day.

You can definitely gain muscle on OMAD.

Just time your workouts to be at the end of your fasting period, and incorporate lifting weights.

Then make sure when you eat, you get sufficient protein and all your vitamins.

Working out fasted increases human growth hormone, and testosterone in men. Both are anabolic to muscle and catabolic to fat. They help you gain muscle and burn fat.

As long as you provide your body with he necessary building blocks to make muscles soon after you work out, the net calorie deficit shouldn’t prevent you from adding muscle, unless the calorie deficit is too extreme.

I’ve lost more than 80lb. AND gained a significant amount of muscle at the same tome over the last year by doing what I described above.
