Do I need to exercise or lift weights while doing OMAD?

When doing OMAD diet, is it wise to go to the gym? I mean is it okay to lift weights as normal people? What exercises should be done while doing OMAD?

I think for you to lose weight faster, you need to exercise regardless of the diet plan you're into. As to what exercise you should be doing, it will depend upon you. In my case, I am not into the idea of 'workout'. I don't have workout plans because I'm into activities that help me burn fats while having fun. I'm into biking, walking, dancing, and hiking.

You don't need to make any exercise while doing OMAD, but if you can do it without seeing the negative effects you should do it, in this way you will lose weight faster.

I workout daily while on OMAD diet and so far no negative effects. Maybe the dizziness the first few days but my system is now stable so you can go ahead if you wish.

Most of the people doing diet are also working out. So I think you don't have to ask it really. Since diet alone can't give a good effect.

That is good for you. Good thing you have those hobbies that helps you with your fitness. I hope to have a buddy while walking, biking and hiking. But dancing? no thanks, how I wished I can dance.LOL
I am into working out most of the times in my room, without those exercise machines.
I downloaded work out videos from youtube without using exercise machines.

I kind of agree with you that it is all about getting to understand the need to lose weight. If there is no side effects with exercising, then there is no big deal about getting to do it in order to lose weight pretty fast.

Exercising won't affect Omad especially when you have been doing it before you began it. I have always continued with my abs training irrespective of being involved in doing Omad.

Most people don't understand that fasting is not starving, especially if you do a protocol like OMAD. You're not going to faint because you've not eaten for 24 hours. However to get through the day I sip on coffee and I find that this helps me to reach my goal of 24 hours. I've heard that coffee curbs your appetite and I've got to agree. I would recommend that just before you go to the gym or wherever you work out, you have a cup of coffee, this will give you strength to get through your workout.

I am not an athlete but I think lifting weights while doing OMAD is a burden to the body. Your body is not normal when you are hungry and eating just once a day will make you hungry even if you don’t feel it. When you do heavy exercises like lifting weight, you are subjecting your body to physical abuse. Just my take on lifting weights, I don’t recommend it especially to the seniors here like me.

I wont recommend weight lifting while doing OMAD diet because it is not a good combination. We should avoid extrenous activities while doing OMAD diet because it is design for lighter loads and low calorie output. Weight lifting also requires constant intake of proteins during constant time to promote build up of muscles. It may be too risky if one will do weight lifting will on OMAD diet.

Actually, it does help a whole lot to exercise along with the OMAD program ! If you read some of the books and personal testimonies about eating once a day, most of the people who are serious about losing weight are also exercising.

I am also a senior (almost 74), and I swim for an hour just about every morning. I belong to the fitness center here, and swimming is one of the exercises that I enjoy doing the very most.
I plan my eating schedule around my exercise schedule, for the most part, and I swim while I am fasting, so that I can burn the most fat possible during the workout, and then I re-fuel my body once I am done swimming and back home again.
Since you burn body fat pretty much exclusively after a 20+ hour fast, the more you can exercise at the end of your fast period, the better it is for you.
I do not feel tired or have any bad affects from exercising, and it actually energizes me !

This is a big encouragement to me especially with the mention of your age. I admire your physical prowess because I simply don't have it. Maybe I need a companion to do the workout and physical fitness activities now that you have opened my mind. All the while I thought that my age is already the relaxing period that we cannot abuse it anymore. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it very much.

When I started exercising, I was not able to do much at first. I was trying to recover from severe heart failure, and actually had very little muscle tone or stamina at that point.
I couldn’t even swim the length of the pool; but I looked on Youtube and found some water exercises that I could do to build up my strength, and then started doing those on the days we went to the fitness center.

No matter where you are at, as far as fitness, just start with what you can do (find something that you enjoy doing), and then keep exercising as often as you can.
It has taken me about 4 years of hard work to overcome the heart failure, but it is all gone now, and I am in better physical health than I have been for years.
Now, I just have to tackle the weight situation, and stick with the IF and OMAD until I can lose the extra weight, as well.

Well, first you need to know what is your goal? Is it to lose weigh faster or do you want to take your time and enjoy the journey. Exercising while doing one meal a day diet will make you to lose pounds faster. Exercise and training will help you to form muscles while losing weight. I think it will have a better result compare to dieting only.

Personally I found myself losing weight even without doing any kind of strenuous exercise, however I do think that often exercise helps keep my mind active and not thinking about food. I find that low impact exercise works best for me, so things like cycling and swimming are the activities I gravitate towards.

Yes you should no matter if your on a diet plan or not. Exercise is so important it helps us have a a healthy body so it makes the diet plan more effective.
Welcome to the forum, @Qwerose !
Where are you from and how long have you been doing OMAD ? There is a section for introductions , if you would like to post more about your journey with OMAD there.

I think it depends if you feel comfortable going to the gym or not. It is more fun to do things that we like because it always give a positive outcome. If you feel like going to the gym then you can go. I think lifting is not bad while on omad diet as long as you don't overdue it.
