I was wondering, how many cheat days should we have in a month? I currently do one a month at the moment, but I've heard some people have one every week or every other week. What is your suggestion? Should I start doing one a week, once every other week (twice a month) or once a month?

I'm going to say once a month, just because having too many cheat meals could hurt your diet. I like to do it mid month, so I have a day to look forward to. :) I was going to do two a month, but feel I would mess up my diet this way.

It'll be different for everyone else though, this is just what I prefer to do.

I'll have to say twice a month. Can't hurt to have two cheat meals spaced out every month. I figure, first of the month, and the second one at the end of the month. That's what I am currently doing right now, and it hasn't caused me any issues yet.

Once a month for me. I usually like to put it either mid month or the first of the month. I usually change it up in the new year though.

I think I'm going to start having a cheat meal once a month. I don't want to go overboard either, so I think once a month is something I'm safe doing.

I'm going to pig out on my cheat day though, that's for sure. :D

Too many variables in life to plan a cheat day. When I'm in general every day life mode, I'm 100% all in with my simple routine. But if family shows up for a visit, or my kid calls and says dad lets go to the movies. Last week two day power outages, I wasn't going to let delicious food go to waste. Cheat days find me. On schedule today, yaaaayy

For me it's once a month, but have tried doing it every other week some months. I'm more inclined to go with one day a month though.

For sure, can't let that good food go to waste. :)

I've never done a cheat day -- at least not without giving up altogether right after. What would a cheat day look like? All-day eating or a longer eating window?

It really depends on the person. Your cheat day could be once a month for just an hour. Some eat a small moderate amount, while some will eat a bunch during the day.

It's like a day to look forward to. All your hard work getting a reward. And then you go right back to your diet the next day.

@Anna thank you for the response! When did you start with cheat days? I think I probably need to get in a. few months of consistency before trying but just wondering! (Hope I'm not hijacking the thread!)

I started a while back, but don't do them as often anymore. I say start when you feel you can control yourself. You don't want to have a cheat day and then keep eating bad the next day and so on.

An no worries, if it fits the topic it's fine to talk about. :)

I tend to cheat almost everyday lol hahhahah. I can't control myself and keep on snacking with breads. Starch is the reason why I'm always constipated. I keep on telling myself I'll just start the diet tomorrow which did not actually happen. I need to have self control. I think this happened because my body wasn't able to adapt with the sudden changes I made. I think I should do it slowly and give myself atleast 1 cheat day per week. Wish me luck though.
