My OMAD Dairy Entries...Comments are Welcomed!

I start my OMAD lifestyle today!!!!:)

I know that I need to make myself accountable to myself.

No one in my life (family and friends) understands OMAD and they are very much against this lifestyle. They think it is starving oneself and unhealthy!

Having this online community is therefore very important to me.

I have been visiting the forums for the past month and finally joined today!

My goal is to lose the 15 pounds I gained since moving to a new country and to maintain this weight lose.

Please feel free to give me any and all the advice you have as I begin my journey into the OMAD lifestyle.

Intermittent fasting is the best diet that has many benefits. It will actually help you lose weight and get other benefits too. Not many people understand OMAD. One person told me that it can give stomach ulcers. This is just a myth.

Set your eating habits and eating time right. Know the drinks and supplements to take. Do exercises.

Welcome to the forum and I'm happy you found this method and lifestyle. My best advice is to go east on sugars and carbohydrates during your meal because it will help you stay less hungry during the fasting period as it will limit the craving and hunger. Good luck with your journey ahead and I am looking forward to reading more about your progress in the coming weeks and months.

Meskack Bwoyele Keya...thank you for your comments. I know there are tremendous benefits to OMAD. I am reading all the various blog post on this website as well as doing other research. I am working on finding a good eating hour but I do have a four hour window that I eat within.

Thanks for the encouragement!!!!

Hi Naomi, thank you for your welcome! I will take your advice about going in easy on the sugar. I was thinking that the sweet tea I normally have with lunch I will go easy on the sugar and gradually do NO sugar! I will keep you updated with my progress.

Yesterday was my first day of OMAD.

I ate within my one hour eating window....but I think I may have eaten too much :-(

But I stuck to OMAD and have not eaten.

I have to work on my overeating in the one hour. But I felt so much better this morning and slept very well last night. I was not stuffed and uncomfortable as I am after a night binge session.

Today I head to school and will be doing my one hour in my lunch time.

...I will give an update tomorrow morning.

....my starting weight is 135.6lbs. I am 5ft 3". My weight range goal is 120-125. When I arrived to Canada I was 120lbs. I gained 15lbs over a 4 months period (this due to comfort eating and trying ALL the new foods!!!!).

My goal is to be in my goal weight range by 31 December 2018.

I will be weighing myself once a month...this as I have a bad relationship with the scale. I will use the fit of my clothes to guide my progress. I will however, focus my energies on my commitment to the OMAD lifestyle and eating healthy whole foods...with an occasional treat;)

Update you soon!

Fabulous Morning all,

My second day OMADing...

It was HARD! I almost ate before my eating windowo_O

But...I remembered that I had to write a report to the community and I waited...it was HARD!!!!

But I enjoyed my eating window and I am still fasting :)

My body feels so good. I had no idea that because I was constantly eating I was making myself feel so ill.
I so badly want to go on the scale (yup...after one day!...) BUT I know that if I see one ounce down I will celebrate with
some eating and if I don't see one ounce down I will cry with some eating...so...no scale for me. I will weigh on the 31st October and
yes...celebrate whatever it is in my eating window.

...I also went to the gym yesterday! Had a great workout!

Hope you all are having great OMAD day!!!!

Nuff love

You are doing great, @Sunny Shelley , and I can see that you are really motivated to do this ! I have trouble with the scale, too, and it helps me to just follow the OMAD program and not weigh myself each day. As far as how much I eat, it seems like there are days when I am happy with just a nice large salad and some veggies, and other days when I feel like I want heavier food, and then I make scrambled eggs and broccoli, or something more filling. I think that our body knows whether we need light foods or heavier ones, and I try to listen to what it is telling me.
Of course, when it says I need apple pie, then I am pretty sure that is not my body taking care of itself.

THANK YOU! @Happyflowerlady !!!! I need all the motivation I can get and your words are so true!

Yesterday: Day #3

This was another hard day. I actually bought tea with milk before my eating window and placed it on my desk as a reward! It worked...but the tea was cold when it was time to eat:rolleyes:

Yesterday, I had to eat within a 30mins window as I had a meeting during my lunch break (Feeding Window). I did enjoy stuffing myself. It is amazing how I have grown to love the stuffed feeling even when I am not hungry. To tell the truth I have forgotten how it feels to be really hungry and feed that hunger gently. I am hoping that OMAD will help me gain control over the GRAVING to stuff myself every hour of the day.

Well...Today I start my 72 hour monthly fast that I do with my friends. I have been doing this fast for about 6 months now...it is not the fast that is the challenge for me it is the binge eating after the fast. I will still log my days as I continue to think about OMAD and this new lifestyle.

Usually after my 72 hour fast I take the next 12 hours and eat EVERYTHING in the house and EVERYTHING at Dollarama!!!....that is after I come from the gym...o_O

But breaking the fast will be different this time around as I will return to OMAD...a one hour window...I know I can do it!!!

I find that positive self talk is necessary and having to write a daily update on this forum helps me to keep on track. I usually beat myself up during a binge and then soothe myself with another binge...This also needs to change...(I got a lot of work to do guys!!!!

Thanks for listening to my chatter...and have a fabulous OMAD day!

WE CAN DO THIS OMADers!!!!!!!

Nuff love

Yesterday: Day#4

Hey all...Hope you are having a fabulous OMAD Life:cool:

Yesterday was the start of my 72 hour monthly fast. I had an early breakfast and started my fast at 7am.

It is amazing that when I am not thinking about what I am going to eat...I have nothing to do. I just realize how much
I think about food. And I do have an exciting life and continually building a great life BUT I think about food ALL the TIME!

Also, yesterday I realized that I was sad...I was sad because I was missing eating. I yelled at my friend and was sad. I need to heal my
relationship with food. I often hear people say that they emotionally eat...but recently I noted that I also emotionally eat. I eat when I am happy, I
eat when I am feeling down, I eat when I am nervous...food is a tool I use to deal with my emotions. I need to work on using non-food actions to
deal with my daily emotions.

Writing maybe a tool I can use. Thanks for creating this forum. I feel stronger because I have an outlet and I feel accountable to the forum!
..Weird!!!

...the weekend is a food weekend...Canada's Thanksgiving Day...and I will be visiting friends and relatives! And YES...I will be OMADING!!!!

I will have to have a strategy...Let me know if you have any suggestions/tips/strategies about OMADing during the food festive holidays~...Christmas is also slowly approaching....o_O

Wishing you a fabulous OMAD day and we chat soon.

I think that a habit of starving and then binging is something that many of us fall into, especially when we have spent many years trying different diets, and yo-yo dieting.
When you are on a restricted calorie diet, then you are pretty much limited to low calorie foods in order to have any amount to eat, and then (what happened to me) the craving for some satisfying food takes over, and then you overeat, like you are talking about.
For myself, I think that the OMAD program has helped with controlling that, as well as reducing the cravings. I usually follow a low carb eating plan for my one meal, but if the urge for a cheeseburger delux starts overwhelming me, I know that I can actually do that sometimes, and still stay on the OMAD program, as long as that is my one meal for the day.
This has helped me to not overeat when I do splurge with a heavier meal, and also not to want it as bad, since I am just delaying it, and not forbidding it.

You are so right @Happyflowerlady ! I too want OMAD to help with my craving. Low calorie meals always make me eat more! And I love when you say "just delaying it and not forbidding it"...I will take that quote throughout my day today!

Thanks!

Yesterday: Day #5

Greetings All,

I made it through yesterday ... I am currently on my monthly 72 hour fast. I went to bed super early yesterday and woke up feeling energized!
Again, I am not hungry...I just miss the action of eating. Is that weird?

I have a question for the group. Is fasting OK during the winter? Again,o_O a friend said that I should EAT and NOT fast during the winter. I should eat always and gain weight because this is normal!!!! :eek:This is my first winter and therefore I don't know anyone who has fasted through winter and have lived to tell the tale!

Please...Let me know what your thoughts are.

Again...not eating is doable...I just need to talk myself off the eating ledge a couple times per day BUT the feeding window is the challenge...but as I said...I am hoping that OMAD after my the end of my monthly 72 hour fast will help to control my need to binge. I know I can do this...Its just food...I ALWAYS am in control of what I put in my mouth!

Thanks for listening to my ramble!

Have a fabulous OMAD day and I will chat tomorrow morning! (tomorrow at 7am is the end time for my 72 hour fast!)

Nuff love

Yesterday: Day #6

OMG!!! Yesterday at school all the lessons were centered around FOOD! ...FRUITS, VEGETABLES, MEAT, CHEESE!!!!! CAKESo_O

So...it was a rough day of not eating all day. But I made it! My best friend at school helped me! We bought tea (No sugar...green tea) and chatted during our lunch break. She does not eat during our lunch time when I am fasting...she is a great person!

So my 72hour fast has ended and I usually begin eating the entire kitchen a second after my long fast and I am simultaneously plan my trip to Dollarama (the best place to get cheap sweets in Canada!).

But if I eat now for my one hour ...I will be not be happy come evening time. So, my plan is to eat at 1pm and to enjoy breaking my fast with some light soup and fruits!!...

I am amazed how much I think about food. Its simply crazy. I am working on getting back my control of my eating...This is a work in progress.

So, I am back on OMAD as at today. I must say I am excited for this. I am more appreciative of the luxury and blessing it is to eat daily and to choose what I eat and to properly nourish my body.

This weekend is a long weekend in Canada. On Monday we celebrate Thanks Giving. I have a lot to give thanks for and it includes the knowledge of OMAD, the ability and luxury to use this knowledge to heal and make my body and mind healthier...I am also grateful for this forum to express my thoughts without judgement!!!

Giving nuff thanks!!!!!

Nuff love;)

Some people advocate following the one meal during holidays, and other people have said that they feel deprived when they do that, so overall, it works better for them to just use that day as a holiday, and then go back to the OMAD after the holiday is over. It seems like it is a personal decision for each person, and for eac occasion.
Our Thanksgiving comes the end of November, so it is not that far away, and from then through January, is just what we call the “Holiday season” here.
We usually just stay home for most holidays, and one thanksgiving meal will be what we will have that day , anyway, but we will probably have s bigger variety of food, and some dessert. Then, the next few days, I will just have light meals for my daily meal, or even a protein shake instead of the meal, and that should help balance everything out.

Thanks @Happyflowerlady for that advice! Funny enough, I never thought about going light on my meals before and after our food holidays. Today is the day before and I will go light! Thanks for that!!!

....for the record...you give great information!!!!!

Yesterday: Day#7

...So

.... I broke my 72hours fast at 2pm yesterday. And I was set to eat within my ONE hour!

BUT>>>>>> I took 1hr and 30mins as my eating window. BUT this is a record/achievement for me as I have never eaten just for 1hr 30mins after a long fast!!!

But, my mind kept telling me "Girl...You know you messed up...just continue eating!!..You know you want to!" ...that voice in my head was so loud.

Usually I would listen to the voice...but I just said "Whatever!! ...I will feel better tomorrow knowing that at least I didn't eat for the entire evening!!!" (which I have done in the past!).

I did good!!!! Like a young boss OMADer;)

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here is Canada and we will be celebrating the day with my family. My family loves to eat and is offended if you come to their home and do not eat...ALOT! with them. In fact they are happy that I gained weight and keep telling me that in Canada I have to put on weight to live in the cold!!! My family is very funny!!!

I am taking @Happyflowerlady advice and take it light today.

I will still observe my one hour at my family's feast.

I also have a breakfast brunch with friends on Tuesday. I will observe OMAD on both days. My time will change on both days. But my major eating goal is to eat within an hour and STOP!

...I have to do this! At this stage in the journey I want to work on my commitment and even if I mess up...I want to forgive myself immediately and get back on the OMAD lifestyle.

Consistency has always been a challenge for me and I am working on being consistent with OMAD as the health benefits are tremendous and I want to live a healthy and happy life!

I am so looking forward to tomorrow's Feast and most importantly...my post about tomorrow!!!

Nuff love

Get plenty of sleep. An organic, plant based diet(non GMO) with very limited to no meat (fatty fish instead: wild caught only) is ideal. Also I recommend exercise of around 2.5 hours per week of some type of cardio & weights. In addition prodigious use of organic, first cold pressed oils such as olive oil on salads and veggies and avocado and coconut oil for cooking ( do not use corn oils) is encouraged.

Good Luck!

@Veggie_Warrior ...THANK YOU! The links have excellent information. I am working on incorporating more fruits and vegetables in my diet and of course organic (when the budget allows). I work out at least 5 times per week and I do both cardio and weights. In fact, my goal next year is to enter a fitness competition

Thank you for the positive inspiration and feel free to send more information my way! :)

Yesterday: Day #8.

WOW...yes...I kept to my 1 hour eating window. I ate from 3pm-4pm. I went to the gym at 12:30pm and did a great workout. That said, I was extremely hungry and wanted to enjoy my one hour window. I didn't go light as I indicated in my previous post but I stayed in my hour and totally enjoyed my food! And I woke up feeling light and happy :D

Today is Thanksgiving and I went to the gym earlier. We are leaving for my relatives' home now and my OMAD challenge begins!

Wish me luck:):):)

Have a fabulous OMAD today and remember we all have a lot to Give Thanks for!!!

Nuff love;)
