Constipation with eating one meal a day

Hello everyone! I am a newbie and I would like to know about your experience with constipation with this one meal a day? What do u do to make it all go smooth? Thank you

Drinking a lot of water, salads, lemonade and proper sleep would help induce digestion during the OMAD diet. Eating fruits help add fibre to the human body and adding lemon juice to the one time meal would help in preventing constipation.

Water melons are good source of natural water and fibre, eating tender coconut jelly and drinking tender coconut water also helps prevent constipation.

I usually take vco when I feel I'm constipated. I take two teaspoonfulls with a glass of water and the effect is almost instant. I believe that there are really some foods that can cause constipation as there are foods that make our poop soft.. It would be best to probably avoid foods that constipate. Another thing I take when constipated is prunes. Just be careful not to take in too many of these black goodies because you'll end up having diarrhea instead.

If anything I’ve found the opposite! I find that now my fiber intake is so much more than I haven’t struggled with that at all.

There are a number of things you could do to improve your bowel movements. Off the top of my head, the first thing that comes to mind is taking magnesium supplements. Magnesium has a minor laxative effect in higher doses, so it could help bowel movements move along much smoother.

Fish and flax oils are also helpful in this area as they help lubricate your intestines, which obviously helps things move along.

The most important thing you can do, though, is to make sure that your one meal is properly balanced. Make sure you're getting enough dietary fiber, and rule out any possible medications or foods which might be causing your constipation.

This can be a problem. When I first started OMAD I had a big problem with constipation. You need to do your research and learn how to eat. I know drinking coffee helps which I do first thing in the morning. When I have a day off I have a big tub of yoghurt to make sure that my gut health stays good. I also had fruits like papaya that are good for digestion. If for your meal you have enough vegetables and sip water throughout the day I think you should be fine.

Eat salads especially the tomatoes, drink plenty of water a day and try to eat fruits, you can also try that your meal to be rich in fibers.

Eating prunes or drinking prune juice will alleviate constipation. The latest I have learned is honey. A teaspoon of honey right after waking up will make it easier to move your bowel. I turn to honey in times that I am having a hard time in the toilet. And I agree that it is better to avoid foods that make you constipated. Guava is one of them, another is star apple.

I did not have this problem as at first when I started I couldn't even finish my meal before having to run to the bathroom, but now that I'm used to it I think I can have some days where I feel less likely to go when it's time. What helps for me is eating a lot of fruits daily, but honestly most of what does it for me is eating a proper amount of food as when I eat very little I find myself not really feeling much like expelling anything the next day.

Do you remember what have you eaten during that day? I think it really depends on the food you eat. Consult your doctor if you think that you are eating your usual food and experienced this.

If it's your first time, try to decrease your food intake little by little until your body are use to it. Try to eat twice a day first then one meal if you think that you are already okay with one meal. Suddenly shifting to OMAD diet is not a good thing because you are forcing yourself with something that it is not use to. Our body needs time to adapt so do it smoothly.

Exactly! Your points are very effective in taking care of constipation when one gets into OMAD DIET. I had the same experience when I was new to OMAD but with lots of water intake and fruits consumption, my body started adjusting well to the one meal a day and now I have no constipation at all.

This is the first time I've heard that proper sleep aids in the digestion. I'm not sure if this is a common knowledge or it is only me who doesn't know. If this is the case then, my lack of sleep is one contributing factor to my indigestion or frequent constipation. This is helpful. Thanks.

You might want to try banana and lots of water. I had the same issue before and it worked for me. I really don't know any scientific explanation about this method but this one was shared by a friend of mine who had OMAD.

When I lack sleep, I usually become constipated for a day or 2 but when I was able to move my bowel, it is like I have diarrhea. Definitely the lack of sleep has an effect on my digestive system. But when I get enough sleep, I don’t feel anything unusual with my digestive system especially when I don’t eat a lot.
